About Himalaya Yasthimadhu Tablet

• Liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is a perennial blooming plant native to central and southwest Asia as well as the Mediterranean region.
• Extensively farmed for its four-foot-deep, sweet taproot.
• Known as “sweet root” due to its sweet flavor.
• In Sanskrit, called yashtimadhu: ‘yashti’ means ‘stem, stalk’, and ‘madhu’ means ‘sweet’.
• In Hindi, it is known as ‘mulethi’.
• The perennial root is rounded, long, straight, hard, and fibrous, grayish outside and yellowish within.
• The cortex contains its most attractive qualities.
• Abundantly grown in Punjab and the sub-Himalayan plains of India.

Indications of Yasthimadhu Tablet

• Acts as a demulcent and mild relaxant that soothes mucosal irritations.
• Ayurveda recommends the root as an effective remedy for coughs, colds, and other bronchial irritations.\
• Helps treat skin problems:
  • Yasthimadhu treats psoriasis, eczema, skin rashes, and dry, itchy skin. Its demulcent and anti-inflammatory properties can reduce eczema symptoms. Apply concentrated root extract to affected areas 2-3 times daily. It is also used in sunscreens.
• Helps treat respiratory problems:
  • Yasthimadhu treats upper respiratory tract illnesses. As an expectorant, it helps liquefy and expel mucus, aiding those with asthma or chest colds. It can be combined with glycyrrhizin or fresh ginger for respiratory infections and colds.
• Relieves ulcers:
  • Deglycyrrhizinated yasthimadhu (DGL) is effective in treating digestive tract ulcers due to its flavonoids, which kill Helicobacter pylori, the bacterium responsible for most stomach ulcers and inflammations.
